Male Allies: here are my treaty conditions

Male allies,
yes, you are welcome here,
as long as you are sincere
and really listening,
not just lending an ear
while you lay on
the woke man act,
hoping to get laid.
If you think I’m easily played,
you are most mistaken.

If you truly are willing
to awaken
then please forgive my cynicism.
Decades of guys,
wearing sensitive sleeves,
these thin veneers
peeling away to reveal
leering aggression,
have caused me to put on
my armour of caution,
the spears in my eyes,
a defence against tears.

Don’t demand that I
cast aside my sword and shield.
My body has been a battlefield for too long,
and enemies come in disguise.
As all true allies would see,
I’m not looking for vengeance.
Before I lay down my arms,
show me some, real consistent respect.
You need to prove your allegiance.

Evolution of the Species

Let’s take the life out of living,
repackaged as lifestyle options,
the gold standard of capitalism,
branded from birth, no exceptions.

Wire our kids up to the machine
then pathologise the reaction,
medicalise the solution,
and call it evolution.

Consume, consume,

this tightly wrapped insanity.
Welcome to democracy,
where candidacy costs eleven grand,
while little by little,
they whittle away the common land.

Let’s take the life out of living.
We’re offering massive reductions,
where greed is branded as giving.
Life is based on seduction.

Wire yourself up to the machine,
then pathologise the reaction,
medicalise the solution,
and call it evolution.

Consume, consume,

this shiny package of lies.
Just ignore the cries.
Our book of dreams is free today,
throw your own away.
You’d never achieve them anyway.

Let’s take the life out of living.
Never mind the destruction.
We’ll dazzle you with our reasoning.
Just make sure you keep up production.

We wired you all up to the machine.
We don’t see there’s a problem.
We need you to just stay really keen.
Don’t ask too many questions.

Er excuse me. I have a question.
What the fuck?

Let’s put the life into living.
Put the product back on the shelf.
Take time for laughing and loving.
Awaken and dare to think for yourself.
